Gaming Tournaments

At our club, we have always enjoyed playing Friendly games on a regular basis. However, we also recognise that sometimes it fun to play in a more competitive environment.

With that in mind, we often run Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Fantasy Tournaments open to anyone who fancies a game or 3!

We offer prizes, food and fun over the course of the day and we hope that everyone will enjoy the tournaments as much as we do.

Our aim is to the make these Tournaments Fair, Fun and Enjoyable for everyone, and for that reason we discourage particularly cheesy Army Lists.

What Format does the Tournament take?

The extact nature of the Tournament depends largerly on its size and the game we are playing. We run two types of Tournament; one for Warhammer 40,000 and the other for Warhammer Fantasy Battles.

At each event , the basic idea is the same;

  • Before the event, Players will receive an Army Composition Score which makes up 25% of your final score.
  • Each player will play 3 Games of 1500pts (for 40k) or 2000pts (for Fantasy) during the day
  • Each Game will have a set of predefined mission or scenario objectives
  • Each Game is scored by Victory Points using the Australian 0 - 20 system and will make up 50% of your score.
  • After each Game, Players rate the Sportmanship of their opponent which makes up the remaining 25% of your score.

We will sent each entrant a full copy of the rules on registration.

What about Painting & Modelling ?

We don't enforce "strict" WYSIWYG at our gaming club, and more fans of "Common Sense WYSIWYG".

Models you use must represent the unit correctly; you can't standin a Heavy Bolter for lascannon, but you don't need to model standard equipment on a model.

We require each Army to be painted with at least 3 different colours, based on the correct size base and carrying the correct weapons or equipment upgrades.

If you have any questions, please do contact us in advance of the event with your questions (See below, How do I find out more? )

How much does it cost?

The cost of an event depends largely on the number of people we know are coming, and what size of venue we require.

However, we include your lunch and as much tea and coffee as you can drink in your attendence fee.

As a rough guide, we normally charge £10 per player for each event.

Where do you play?

We play in our traditional club meeting place at the Community Centre, St Georges Hospital, Morpeth. Full details on how to get there will be provided once your registration for an event has be completed.

However, sometimes we may choose to hold an event at larger premises. We will let you know when an event is organised.

What do you provide?

At each event, we provide;

  • Other players to play against
  • A board with scenary (at some events, we may ask certain players to bring scenary to help us out)
  • Tournament Rules
  • Prizes (the extact size and nature of the prizes varies by event)
  • Food (Lunch is included in your Registration Fee - how kind are we?)

What do I need to bring?

If you're attending one of our Tournaments, you will need to make sure you bring;

  • Your fully painted and based army
  • A copy of your Army Roster
  • The main Warhammer 40,000or Warhammer Fantasy Rulebook
  • The Latest Codex or Army Book of your chosen Army
  • Dice, Tape Meaure and any Templates you require
